In 2015, Pastor Shanté, along with three other risk takers (Jerry White, Bill Madsen, & Alex (Shanté's bonus baby, who was only 8yrs old at the time) had an idea to create a unique experience that would reach those who were interested in Christ, but not necessarily church.
Thanks to the generosity of celebrity chef, Sharon VanMeter (owner/founder of 3015@Trinity Groves), a new home was given to this idea—called Bibles & Biscuits—a place to feed your body and your soul. In August of 2015, one hundred people gathered for the first Bibles & Biscuits experience. Some came out of curiosity, others because they needed a new faith community, and some because they were invited to eat really good biscuits and gravy. The very first Sunday set the course for which we are on today. On that morning, hundreds of dollars of school supplies were collected and given to the Wesley Rankin Community Center, their neighbors in West Dallas. For a year, this group studied, worship, sang, served and grew together. Their vision for serving as the hands and feet of Christ to the La Bajada West Dallas neighborhood grew as well.
On Easter of 2016, Bibles & Biscuits changed its name and from it was birthed LIFT Community Church®. We believe that we are much more than a local church. We are a movement that welcomes ALL people to live a life of limitless possibilities in Christ.
